Hair Powder: Save Money on the Most Miraculous Beauty Product You've Never Tried

From Amber Mortensen, About.com GuideJanuary 24, 2010

Follow me on:

I have been cursed with fine, oily, limp and loathsome hair for most of my life. That was, until a friend of mine recommended Bumble and Bumble's Hair Powder (comes in five different colors), which at $35 a pop was completely and totally worth it. It was like a catch-all toolkit custom designed for my heinous mop.

Second day greasiness? Mattified.
Uncolored roots? Blended.
Fine strands? Plumped.
Limpness? Sayonara!

I was addicted, but the $35 can would last me only a month or two if used modestly. Enter Salon Grafix Spray Powder. While it doesn't yet come in white for my practically platinum noggin or smell quite as nice, it does the same miraculous things as the Bumble and Bumble powder, but costs only $7.99! But get this: right now at Drugstore.com, its on special 2 for 1!

Is $4 still too pricey for you? Then forgo the convenience of the spray can and get thee to the grocery store for a canister of cornstarch, the main ingredient of most hair powders (also referred to as dry shampoos), for less than $3. Dip your fingers in, shake off the excess and tousle your roots for fresh-as-a-daisy follicles.

Warning: use this method very sparingly on dark hair, or it'll turn you grey.
