Amber Mortensen, a wardrobe stylist and published writer, has been obsessed with thrift store shopping for more than 20 years. Amber has no need for a Kelly bag or a pair of Louboutins, because she has styled some incredible fashion editorials using nothing but a pile of thrift store clothes and a little bit of ingenuity.

Experience:

During less than 3 years of writing about fashion from her own perspective on PainfullyHip.com (Fashion-Forward Finds for the Weak of Wallet), Amber's writing and styling has been featured by print and electronic publications across the country. Her resume boasts reviews and mentions by BUST Magazine and Elle.com, and publication by Lucky Magazine, N.E.E.T. Magazine, The Printed Blog, and in national print ads for Crossroads Trading Company, the vintage retailer.

From Amber Mortensen:

Fashion is a great way to express yourself every single day, so I like to keep my closet fresh no matter what my budget. My favorite hobby is thrift store shopping, and you can call it a hobby, because it takes some skill. My pet peeve is when people say, “I’d love to wear that, but I’d never be able to pull it off.” It really is all about confidence. Once you’ve found a wardrobe you truly love, the only thing left to do is rock it. When in doubt sneer, strut or just grin and no one will question your style choices ever again. Besides, who cares if they do, they call it personal style for a reason.
