Foundation is one of those makeup items that most of us are willing to fork out a little extra money for - flawless looking skin, after all, is priceless. Wanting to know if the HD-makeup buzz was just hype, I picked up a bottle of the Smashbox High-Definition Healthy FX Foundation at Sephora($38), where a consultant helped me choose my shade (L3 for my light skin).

After an application of PhotoFinish primer, I used a foundation brush to apply the Healthy FX. One complete pump of the dispenser gave me more foundation than I needed, but the formula was smooth and creamy. Since my color match was perfect, the makeup blended easily, and felt soft and comfortable on my skin. My normally dry, flaky skin stayed smooth and felt moisturized all day.

After nearly two months of use, the 1 oz bottle is still more than half-full, and I remain more than satisfied with the purchase. I have noticed, however, that I need to shake the bottle and blend the foundation a bit more before application, as it seems to have separated a bit. My bottle has been on a few plane trips and to a very tropical locale, however, which may account for this change. Though I purchased this foundation for my wedding, I love Smashbox Healthy FX so much that it has become part of my everyday makeup routine.
