The Flirt Jeans

Old Navy

The Bottom Line

Looking for a pair of jeans that won't break the bank? At under $30, Old Navy's "The Flirt" jeans are getting lots of buzz, but because of the jeans' tendency to lose shape and bag, as well as the generally boring look, this is one case where you definitely get what you pay for.

Pros

  • Inexpensive
  • Variety of washes and cuts

Cons

  • Do not retain shape
  • Higher waist gaps in the back
  • Fairly boring look

Description

  • Women's mid-rise jeans (just below the waist in front, slightly higher in back)
  • Cut straight through hip and thigh
  • Available in flared, straight, boot cut and trouser cuts
  • Choose from short, regular or long inseams in sizes from 0-20

Guide Review - Old Navy Jeans - "The Flirt"

At first, I really liked the boot cut, "Flirt" jeans in dark wash that I bought at Old Navy for $25. There was leg room in the thigh (without being too baggy) and a very slight stretch that makes jeans more flattering. The one complaint I had from the start was that the backside of the jeans flattened out my butt. I wasn't expecting a miracle "lift and shape" from a pair of jeans at this price point, however, so I overlooked this flaw.

Unfortunately, the first time I wore the jeans was the only time they remotely fit. After a few hours of wear, the jeans had stretched into a baggy mess, a development that was not remedied by washing. After washing, the jeans seemed to have extra material at the sides of the crotch and back of the thigh. I asked two brutally honest relatives for their immediate response to the jeans and received the following comments: "boring" and "mom jeans." With that, the jeans were relegated to weekend errand status, and my quest for the perfect pair of jeans continued.
